Jewel of the Nile (1985)

Having seen Romancing the Stone I was curious to see how the sequel was. Now Romancing the Stone is not what I would call a high quality film, it is more of an extremely cheesy chick flick. So basically I wanted to see if it got any worse, as sequels tend to do. Much to my surprise (can’t decide whether or not it was pleasant) it was the same cheesy chick flick as its predecessor. In this story we follow Joan, a romance writer, and her lover interest Jack, on the journey for the jewel of the Nile. Joan get recruit to write some real work, a biography on the man coming to power in Egypt. Of course she manages to get herself in a situation where she needs a man to come save her and such. I could go on and on about the anti-woman and men using woman issues all day long (as you all know). Anyways, if you are looking for a mindless romance movie, this is golden. It is not great in any other light. Acting is so so as is directing and cinematography. Certainly not the worst of the worst though.
